ADHD & Eating Behaviour Assessment & Feedback

Wondering if you might have ADHD and how it might be affecting your eating and self-care habits?

My goal is to help you get clarity. I offer a specialized, in-depth assessment focused on how ADHD and related concerns may be impacting your eating habits, self-care, and overall well-being. You'll receive personalized feedback and practical strategies you can start using right away.

While I don’t provide ongoing therapy, I’ll share referral options for trusted therapy providers and other support services that may be helpful for you.

I also host monthly educational support group sessions focused on ADHD and eating behaviors — a space to keep the conversation going, with others who get it. Each meeting provides a short lesson on a topic related to executive function and eating/self-care habits and time for discussion. Attendees are invited to email me questions in advance for topics they'd like to cover.

I also invite you to sign up for my newsletter, which will also provide ongoing education and resources for navigating healthy habits using insights about executive functioning.

In the future, I also plan to offer self-paced courses that support you in taking a "deeper dive" into identifying, practicing, and evaluating strategies that can help you improve your habits.

Assessment Process

We will start your assessment process with questionnaires and standardized testing to gather important diagnostic information and other pertinent history. Once I have reviewed your intake materials, I will begin creating a personalized report with specific recommendations. We will then meet for further exploration which will help me finalize my diagnostic impressions and recommendations. I will share these with you during our meeting and in a written report with extensive recommendation, referral, and resource information included.

How to schedule

I provide services through a group practice that specializes in bariatric care, Assessment and Therapy Associates. To schedule an appointment, email office@atabariatrics.com, or call/text 757-206-2772. Make sure to specify that you are requesting an ADHD assessment with Dr. Stewart.

We are in-network with most insurances, please be prepared to share your insurance information with staff so we can confirm your benefits.

FAQs

1. Why do you not offer therapy?

I choose to focus on the areas where I feel most effective—namely, in providing deep insights and educational support for those dealing with executive function challenges while trying to improve their health habits. While I am a skilled therapist, I find that my strengths shine the brightest in the analytical and teaching aspects of my work. This is where I can make the most impact, especially through assessment and feedback. Additionally, focusing solely on assessment gives me the scheduling flexibility I prefer, which also allows me to better serve my clients.

That said, I always make sure to connect clients with referral information for ongoing therapy and offer opportunities for further learning, such as my monthly educational/support sessions. Soon, I’ll also be offering self-paced courses for continued growth.

2. Can I use my diagnosis from this assessment to access medication treatment and/or work/school accommodations?

Possibly. Some healthcare providers, schools, and workplaces may accept a diagnosis from this type of assessment, while others may require a more in-depth evaluation before providing medication or accommodations. This often includes additional sessions with standardized or computerized testing, which is beyond the scope of the focused assessment I offer.

It’s always a good idea to check directly with your provider, school, or employer to understand their specific documentation and assessment requirements before beginning this process.

My assessment is highly specialized and designed to explore ADHD symptoms in the context of eating behaviors, executive functioning, and self-care. It does not include the full range of cognitive testing some institutions or providers may require.

In some cases, it may not be possible to make a definitive ADHD diagnosis from a single, focused assessment. Symptoms of ADHD can overlap with — or be masked by — other mental health conditions like anxiety, depression, trauma, or sleep disorders. In those cases, treatment or stabilization of these conditions may be necessary before we can confidently confirm or rule out ADHD. If this applies to you, we’ll discuss appropriate next steps or referrals.

If needed, I will include accommodation recommendations in your assessment report. If you anticipate needing a version of the report to submit to a school or employer, please let me know at the start of the process.
